About Matt
Matt holds a Master of Engineering in Acoustics from Penn State University (2010) as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano) and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Lebanon Valley College (2007), where he's also spent time on the faculty as an adjunct instructor of physics (2014). The diverse and unique curriculum within which he's worked and studied has included such subject areas as calculus, mechanics, engineering, music theory & history, and piano pedagogy, literature, and technique.
With an educational background in both music and physics/engineering, Matt's initial training in piano technology began as a combination of traditional apprenticeship and self study. He has been proudly serving the piano tuning and repair needs of homes, schools, churches, and other venues in the Harrisburg, Hershey, and surrounding areas since 2008, with several hundred active clients at the current time. His professional development is ongoing through continued self study, consultation with other piano technicians, and conferences hosted by the Piano Technician's Guild.
Matt has also served as director of music and organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Paxtang (2007-2020) and as a piano instructor at State Street Academy of Music in Harrisburg (2008-2019). His holiday-themed albums Christmas At Home: Jazz-Inspired Carol Settings for Solo Piano, Volumes I & II, were released in 2013 & 2015, with a follow-up live recording titled Day of Thanksgiving (2019). Matt lives in the Harrisburg area with his wife Samantha Blaisse and their three children.
